Shifting the way you do business

Shifting just 10% of local consumer and business spending will have a fantastic impact on our local economy.

What’s local?
Local economies vary by each area.  In the Inland Northwest, we have a regional trade hub based out of Spokane, with lots of business happening between Spokane, Coeur D’Alene, Cheney, Pullman, Post Falls, and other surrounding communities.  For our network, we’re letting businesses decide how much of their business is based on connections within the Inland Northwest.

Who’s local?
Generally, businesses that are owned and operated within the Inland Northwest will hire people in the Inland Northwest, source from other businesses within the Inland Northwest, and support causes within the Inland Northwest.
We consider any business that is privately held and has 50% or more of the ownership living in the region as a local business.  These are the businesses that drive our local economy.

Why local?
Perhaps the most important question of all, and the simplest to answer.  Spending money at local businesses keeps that money cycling in the community.  That means the money is spent again and again, multiplying its value, creating jobs here, and spurring economic growth here in Spokane.  We envision an economy where local consumers shop at locally owned businesses, which source their material from local suppliers.  By keeping money in Spokane for as many steps of the process as possible, we support a diverse, vibrant economy that supports our whole community.
